Third time’s the charm for Mustangs against Doucette: Redmond playing for state berth Monday

After suffering 7-1 and 8-1 losses earlier this season to the hot-hitting Inglemoor Vikings and their ace pitcher, Dustin Doucette, the Redmond Mustangs would not be denied the third time around as they turned the tables in a 6-2 Kingco playoff victory Thursday at Woodinville High School.

The win ended the Vikings season at 15-9 and earned the Mustangs a berth in the winner-to-state pigtail game against the No. 3 team from the WesCo league, which will be decided this afternoon between Marysville-Pilchuck and Mariner.

The game will be on Monday, May 16 at 4 p.m. at Hartman Park in Redmond.

In Thursday’s game against Inglemoor, Dylan Davis shined on the mound, going five and two-thirds innings allowing just two earned runs while striking out five.

Offensively, the Mustangs banged out nine hits in total including Davis launching his second home run in as many games, along with Patrick McGrath leaving the yard with a two-run blast.

Peter Hendron had a perfect night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

After their 8-1 opening round playoff loss to Inglemoor, the Mustangs have reeled off three straight loser-out playoff wins, outscoring their opponents 28-5.
