RHS cross country wins in Arlington | Prep Report

On Saturday, the Redmond High cross country teams participated in the Hole in the Wall Invitational at Lakewood High School in Arlington, and the Mustangs took the combined champions title of the meet with high places on the boys' and girls' sides.

On Saturday, the Redmond High cross country teams participated in the Hole in the Wall Invitational at Lakewood High School in Arlington, and the Mustangs took the combined champions title of the meet with high places on the boys’ and girls’ sides.

The varsity girls placed second overall to nationally-ranked Glacier Peak. Leading the girls’ squad in the 5,000 meter race were Megan Le Gresley, who placed third in 18 minutes, 35.05 seconds and Kelsey Dunn in sixth at 18:52.06.

On the boys’ side, Johnathan Stevens placed 12th in 16:28.62, just in front of teammate Max Dunn, in 13th at 16:29.70, with Zach Kirwan rounding out the top 20 in 16:46.72. The boys also placed second as a team.

The Mustangs will host their final league cross country meet on Wednesday as the undefeated girls take on Eastlake at Hartman Park for the dual meet championship of 4A Kingco. The meet is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

 

Bear Creek volleyball stays undefeated in thriller

The powerhouse Grizzlies’ volleyball team had its back to the wall, but rallied for a thrilling five-set win against Christian Faith last Friday on game scores of 18-25, 15-25, 25-17, 25-19, 15-7 (tiebreak).

For the Grizzlies, Nikki Peterson led the team with 11 kills, followed by Bethan Meyer with 10 kills and Makena Schoene with eight.

Michele Brown recorded 26 assists as a setter while leading with five aces, and defensively, Morgan Cadigan (20 digs) and Meyer (16 digs) shined for Bear Creek, which improved to 6-0 in Sea-Tac 2B league play and 12-1-1 overall.
