Redmond soccer holds off Eastlake, Owls stay perfect | Prep soccer, tennis report

The Mustang boys' soccer team held a 3-0 lead through most of their 4A Kingco league opening soccer game against Eastlake last night at home, but barely held off the surging Wolves 3-2 in the closing minutes. Cooper Bilginer scored in the fifth and 30th minutes for the Mustangs, with Conner Boone adding another early in the second half. All three goals were assisted by Tyler Bennett.

In the 70th minute, Austin Aumell scored for Eastlake and another Wolves’ goal was recorded with less than three minutes to play in regulation, but the Mustangs were able to hold on.

The win improved Redmond to 4-1 on the season.

 

Owls rout Northwest School

The red-hot Overlake School boys’ team showed more of its offensive muscle on Tuesday night during a home game against Northwest School, winning in a 8-0 rout.

Six different players scored for the Owls: Riley Browne (8th minute), Rohan Kumar (12th, 25th), Gavin Mackinlay (29th), Chris Chin (31st), Dean Poplawski (36th and penalty kick), J.J. Cardenas (62nd).

Cardenas and Jack Roberts split time in goal to earn the shutout.

So far this season, the Owls have scored 35 goals while allowing just two.

 

Mustang tennis drops one to LW

Playing in a Kingco matchup last night, the Mustangs got swept in singles action en route to a 5-2 loss to Lake Washington.

Highlights for the Mustangs included Haley Blatter and Erin Friedland meating Kim Koshman and Mary Nelson 6-2, 6-4; and Amanda Lin and Celine DeJong beating Shada Shomali and Marissa Kirk 6-3, 6-4.
