Excitement was buzzing in the crisp air at Walter L. Seabloom Stadium Friday Night as the Redmond Mustangs took on the Issaquah Eagles as part of the Homecoming game festivities.
The “Mustang Parade,” a unique parade of classic and current Mustang cars from local residents, alumni and Ford of Kirkland, was the highlight of the halftime fun.
More than 20 Mustangs were featured at the event, from a 1965 Coupe to a 1967 Fastback, to a mint 2010 Mustang convertible, with many of the cars holding cheerleaders and nominees for this year’s “Royalty,” for which the student body voted on Friday.
Redmond mayor John Marchione was on hand as the emcee for the halftime show, announcing the vehicles and the results of the voting while congratulating the nominees.
The senior King and Queen for 2009 — Matt Kimmel and Kailey Trussel — beat out four other pairs of nominees for the distinctive honor.
