Redmond High cross country teams gear up for season

Redmond High's cross country teams will begin their seasons on Sept. 7 with the Kingco two-mile class races at Lake Sammamish State Park.

Redmond High’s cross country teams will begin their seasons on Sept. 7 with the Kingco two-mile class races at Lake Sammamish State Park.

Top returners for the boys, matched with their top times from 2015:

• Lance Mason, sophomore, 16.20.0 PR

• George Cretu, sophomore, 16.22.0 PR

• Kyle Nickum, junior, 16.49.0

• Owen Leslie, junior, 17.01.0 PR

• Travis Mason, sophomore, 17.05.9 PR

• Eric Nickum, junior, 17.06.0 PR

The boys varsity finished 6-2 and placed fifth at the 4A Kingco championships and eighth at districts. The JV boys took first at Kingco.

State qualifier

The girls varsity finished 3-5 and placed sixth at the 4A Kingco championships and ninth at districts. The JV girls took third at Kingco.

“Our outlook is promising but unknown since we are now 3A. We have many good returning athletes and a squad of 115 runners,” said head coach Denis Villeneuve.
