Redmond High, Bear Creek athletes qualify for state track and field meets

Colin Cottom will compete in the discus and javelin; Steve Brown will compete in the 300 hurdles; Patrick Thomson will compete in the high jump; and Kaitlyn Hartman will compete in the discus.

Here’s their results at the 4A Wesco/Kingco Bi-District meet last Saturday at Lake Stevens High:

Cottom was third in the discus (142-03) and fourth in the javelin (165-00); Brown was third in the 300 hurdles (40.02); Thomson was fourth (6-00) in the high jump; and Hartman was fifth in the discus (101-06).

Bear Creek’s Olivia Markezich qualified for 1A state in both the 3,200 (11:27.68) and 1,600 (5:13.55) at the 1A Bi-District 1/2 meet last Saturday at Woolsey Stadium in Shoreline.

She captured third in the 1,600 and fourth in the 3,200, just .02 behind third. State is May 26-28 at Eastern Washington University.
