The Redmond girls’ golf team defeated Liberty at Bear Creek Country Club on Tuesday afternoon, 235-280, to finish the year 10-0 and win their 78th consecutive 4A Kingco match. Marit Swanson and Keira O’Hearn were co-medalists with rounds of 44, with Kelly Kennewick close behind at 45.
The girls head to Snohomish Golf Course on May 11-12 next week for districts, with tee times starting at 8 a.m. both days.
ANDREA, OWLS SHUT OUT BUSH
Playing their last regular-season game, the Overlake Owls ended on a good note with a 10-0 win over Bush School in five innings on Tuesday night at Marymoor Park.
Owls’ starter Michael Andrea pitched a gem, one-hitting Bush through four innings of work while striking out eight and walking just one.
On offense, Josh Erickson and John Stolarczuk both launched home runs as part of 2-for-4 nights at the plate.
The Owls ended the regular season with a record of 5-6 in league play (7-10 overall).
OVERLAKE GIRLS’ TENNIS TOPS FOREST RIDGE
The Overlake School girls’ tennis team lost just one match in a 4-1 victory over Forest Ridge on Monday afternoon at The Overlake School.
Playing at No. 1 singles, senior Lana Robbins nearly swept Ravens’ No. 1 Stephanie Nicholson, 6-1, 6-0, and Lana’s younger sister Julia Robbins escaped a close first set to dispatch Ash Mandalika 7-6, 6-1.
The sister team of Stephanie and Caroline Roush beat Caroline Spencer and Catherine Burgess 6-2, 6-1, and the No. 2 doubles team of Catherine Jessen and Emily Walther won 6-1, 6-1.
OVERLAKE BOYS WIN RAIN-SHORTENED MATCH
With a heavy rain and looming thunderstorms, The Overlake School ended its non-league boys’ golf match against Cedarcrest after the seventh hole at the Golf Club at Redmond Ridge, with the Owls earning the win 121-133.
Despite the bad weather, Reid Fredrickson and Sam Brown both were on a torrid pace, carding 28s, to lead the team. Cedarcrest was led by Ryan McKinley at 29 through seven holes.
OWLS’ GIRLS GOLF TAMES ELK RUN
Traveling to take on Rainier Christian at Elk Run Golf Course in Maple Valley on Monday afternoon, The Overlake School girls’ golf team played through inclement weather for a 59-44 victory using modified Stableford scoring.
Overlake’s Aubrey Devine and Meggie Howell led the Owls with scores of 18, with Jessica Elliott carding a 13.
Rainier Christian’s Kim Brumfield medaled with a 21.
