The Mustangs won their 13th game in the last 14 contests with a 3-2 victory against Woodinville in Saturday’s opening round of the Kingco 4A playoff tournament at Woodinville High School.

Senior pitcher Adam Cline (4-4) pitched his fourth complete game of the season, holding the Falcons to only three hits. Junior Brent Firth and senior Patrick McGrath provided all the offense Cline and the Mustangs needed to grab the victory.

Firth hit solo home run over the right-centerfield fence in the second inning — his third homer of the season. McGrath drove in two runs, including the go-ahead run in the fifth inning on a two-out, two-strike pitch.

Redmond, which improved to 13-8, takes on Newport today at 4 p.m. at Woodiniville High School. The winner earns a state tournament berth and a spot in Thursday’s Kingco 4A championship game at Woodinville.

Redmond fastpitch knocks off Eastlake

The Redmond High School fastpitch team outlasted Eastlake, 14-8, in a Kingco 4A contest Friday at Hartman Field.Louise Chouinard led the Mustang offense with four hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Teammate Ashley Mitchell scored four runs and had two hits. Blake Gransee and Elaine Wang also each had two hit for Redmond.
