The Redmond High School baseball team will begin its postseason run on Saturday with a 10 a.m. matchup against Woodinville in a Kingco 4A playoff opener at Woodinville High School.

The Mustangs (12-8) have won 12 of their 13 games after an 0-7 start to the season. Redmond, the No. 2 team from the Crest Division, take on a talented Falcons’ team, which earned the No. 3 seed from the Crown Division on the strength of deep pitching.

“It was not a favorable draw for us,” said Redmond coach Dan Pudwill. “However, we are a good club who has pitched well and played solid defense. I am pleased with the way we are playing currently.”

Pudwill has yet to decide who will start on the mound for the Mustangs, but whoever pitches will need a boost from the offense, according to Pudwill.

“Our offense needs to take that next step and be productive up and down the lineup for us to push our way into the state tournament,” he said. “If we can do that and execute our small ball offensively, I like our chances.”

A Redmond win on Saturday sets up a Monday matchup at 4 p.m. at Woodinville against the winner of the Newport-Inglemoor game, which will be played at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Woodiniville. If the Mustangs lose, they fall into the consolation bracket and play the Newport-Inglemoor loser on Monday at 4 p.m. at Inglemoor.
