In a matchup of 4A Kingco’s best baseball teams, the Redmond derailed Inglemoor’s perfect 9-0 league record with a 4-2 victory Friday night at Hartman Park.
The Mustangs jumped on the Vikings early as hot-hitting Dylan Davis stroked a two-run home run in the bottom of the first, his fifth of the year.
The Vikings responded with two runs of their own in the third, but resilient Redmond took advantage of a two-base error in the fourth, leading to another two-run inning and a 4-2 lead.
Zach Abbruzza dazzled on the mound, retiring the Vikings in order in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and scattered seven hits in the complete-game win.
With the win, the Mustangs now lead the Crest Division at 8-2 (10-3 overall) and travel to Lee Johnson Field Tuesday night to take on Lake Washington (4-6, 6-6) at 7 p.m.
MUSTANG OFFENSE POWERS PAST ISSAQUAH
The Redmond fastpitch team came out blazing in a decisive 4A Kingco 10-4 victory over the Issaquah Eagles at home Friday night.
In the first inning, a walk by Stephanie Gero, and back-to-back RBI base hits by Lindsay Cristobal and Christine Ho as the Mustangs took the early lead.
The Eagles responded with a four-run third inning, but Redmond’s Louise Chouinard came up big with a single that drove in two in the bottom of the inning to give the Mustangs lead back for good.
Mustangs starting pitcher Emily Graves went 4 2/3 innings and gave up just two hits for her fifth win. Offensively, Chouinard went 3-for-4 and teammate Cristobal enjoyed a 2-for-4 night.
The Mustangs play again tonight against Woodinville at Woodinville High School, first pitch at 4:30.
