After a tough 0-7 start to the season, the Mustang baseball team has started to right the ship with their second straight win, a 3-2 Kingco win over Garfield on Tuesday, on the road.

After a tough 0-7 start to the season, the Mustang baseball team has started to right the ship with their second straight win, a 3-2 Kingco win over Garfield on Tuesday, on the road.

The Mustangs struck first, plating a run in the second inning, before starter Adam Cline had his only rough inning of the day, allowing the Bulldogs to tie the score at 2-2 in the fourth.

Redmond was able to scratch across the winning run in the fifth, as Cline shut the opposition down the rest of the way.

For Redmond, Thomas Crosley and Brandon Burditt each went 1-for-3 with RBI base hits, with Brent Firth and Cline going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

In his 6 2/3 innings of work, Cline struck out 10 while walking only two.

The win improved the Mustangs to 1-4 in league play and 2-7 overall.

The team took on Ballard last night, at Hartman Park, after the Reporter’s deadline.

 

Mustang offense stalls against Issaquah

The Redmond High fastpitch team hanged tough with Issaquah and their pitching ace Brielle Bray on Tuesday night at Hartman Park, but the Eagles scored three runs in the seventh inning in a 5-1 Mustang loss.

Issaquah got on the board early with a run in the first, but Mustang slugger Ashley Mitchell answered with a solo home run in the third to narrow the gap to 2-1.

In the fourth, fifth and sixth, Redmond starter Melissa White traded zeros with Bray, but the Eagles came through in the final frame to put the game out of reach.

With the loss, the Mustangs fell to 0-2 in league play and 2-2 overall.

 

Roosevelt nips Redmond soccer

Playing a road game at Northeast Athletic Complex on Tuesday night, the Redmond Mustangs lost a 4A Kingco league game to Roosevelt 2-1.

The Roughriders drew first blood, scoring in the second minute, but Mustang Stephen Jinneman, off Justice James’ assist, evened up the score in the 51st minute.

Six minutes later, Ismail Mussa scored the eventual game-winner for Roosevelt as the Mustangs were not able to score the equalizer.

The loss, Redmond’s first in league play, dropped the Mustangs to 2-1 (5-2 overall).
