The 10-11 Redmond Little League All-Star softball team followed up their District 9 title by winning the state championship last Saturday at Everest Park in Kirkland by beating Mill Creek 18-8 in five innings.
The All-Stars, who won eight straight games during the postseason, claimed just the second state title in Redmond Little League history and the first since 2007.
In the deciding game, Sarah Johnson was the winning pitcher and catcher Destiny Curtin led the offense with four hits, including the walk-off, game-winning single.
“Nine of the ten girls on the team scored at least one run ,” said manager Jeff Johnson. “Simply an incredible ride by an amazing group of young ladies.”
