In addition to the marvelous defensive effort that contributed to the Cardinals’ goose egg, senior Jessica Elliott put in a game-high 13, with Alison Havran and Maya Marder each chipping in with nine.

With the win, the Owls improved to 4-2 in 1A Emerald City League games and stand at 6-3 overall.

BRANDON, CARDINALS STIFLE OWLS

Visiting Seattle Academy, the Owls had their hands full on Tuesday night against an offensive-laden Cardinals squad that put up big numbers in a 75-62 loss.

Despite trailing by just three at the half, junior standout Adrian Brandon was red-hot from all over the floor, scoring a season-high 25 and helping Seattle Academy break away in the second half.

The Poplawski brothers, sophomore Dean and freshman Matthew, led the scoring for the Owls with 17 and 15, respectively.

At 0-5, the Owls are still winless in Emerald City League play and 4-8 overall.

MUSTANG BOYS DROP SEVENTH STRAIGHT

Playing at home against the Lake Washington Kangaroos (6-3, 10-3) on Tuesday night, the Mustangs got cold in the second quarter en route to a 32-17 halftime deficit and eventual 73-57 loss.

Redmond junior guard Andrew Squiers led the team with 12 points, followed by Conner Floan with 10.

The Kangs were spurred on to victory by 6-foot-6 senior forward Ryan Guisness and fellow senior Dallas Searles with 15 apiece.

With the loss, the Mustangs dropped to 2-7 in conference play and 3-10 overall.

GRIZZLIES IMPROVE TO 6-0

The Bear Creek boys’ team continued their dominance in the Sea-Tac 2B League with an 88-31 win over Quilcene at home last Saturday.

The team had a record six players score in double digits, led by Jamie Meyer with 19, Lucas Peterson with 16, and 6-6 forward Ryan Strandin with 14.

The Grizzlies now have a two-game lead in their division over Seattle Lutheran, and face winless Christian Faith (0-6, 0-10) on Friday night.

LADY GRIZZLIES BOUNCE BACK

After suffering their first league loss last week against Tacoma Baptist, the Bear Creek girls bounced back with a 42-30 win over Quilcene at home last Saturday.

Scoring just five in the first quarter, the Grizzlies picked up steam and held on for the win. Kendall Englestone led the team with 11 points, followed by Maddie Magee wih 10 and Megan Cheever with nine.

The Grizzlies are now 5-1 in Sea-Tac 2B League play and 11-3 overall.
