The Cardinals, the only team in the 1A Emerald City League still unbeaten going into Tuesday’s play, got a 25th minute goal from Rylie DeGarmo to open up the scoring.

With 10 minutes left to play, senior Emily Kelly came up big with a penalty kick goal after sophomore Quinn Phillips was fouled in the goal box, and in the first overtime period Emily Walter buried a shot past the goalie after a corner kick for the game winner.

The Owls improved to 9-2-1 in league play and 11-2-1 overall while the Cardinals dropped to 10-1-1 (10-2-2).

CLOUGH SETS SHUTOUT RECORD IN GRIZZLIES’ WIN

Bear Creek goalkeeper Jamie Clough set a new school record on Tuesday afternoon with his 10th shutout of the year in a 7-0 road thrashing of Mount Rainier Lutheran.

Six different players – Tom Postings (8th minute), Lucas Peterson (10th), Jesse Leuenberger (18th), Mark Phillips (20th and 54th), Nima Abtahi (41st) and Will Stansell (70th) and scored for the Grizzlies, with Postings also assisting two of the Grizzly goals.

With the victory, the Grizzlies stayed perfect at 8-0-0 in Sea-Tac 2B league play and 13-0-0 overall.

DOMINANT GRIZZLIES ROUT RAINIER CHRISTIAN

The Bear Creek School volleyball team didn’t give the Rainier Christian Mustangs much of a chance on Tuesday night as they won handily at home 3-0 on game scores of 25-6, 25-12, 25-13.

For the Grizzlies, Makena Schoene led the offense with eight kills, followed by Domonique DuBois and Maddie Easley with six apiece. Bethan Meyers slammed a season-high eight aces to go along with five kills.

With the win, the Grizzlies improved to 9-0 in Sea-Tac 2B league play and 10-0 overall.
