After moving Wednesday night’s 4A Kingco tilt against Roosevelt from the expansive Woodland Park to the hitter-friendly Hartman Park due to weather, the Mustangs took full advantage as they clobbered the Roughriders 16-0.
A nine-run fifth ended the game early as Peter Hendron, swinging by far the hottest bat in the league, went 4-for-5 with a season-high six RBIs including a home run, his second on the year. In his last four games, Hendron has tallied 14 RBIs and is batting .667 (10-for-15).
Adding to the offense were the efforts of Dylan Davis (3-for-5, 2 RBI), Zach Abbruzza (2-for-5, two runs scored) and T.J. Whidby (2-for-3, 2 RBI).
The win elevated the Mustangs to 9-0 in league play and 12-2 overall.
Mustang fastpitch bounces back, beats Issaquah
The Redmond High fastpitch team came right back after suffering its first loss of the season, beating the Eagles 7-3 in a rainy 4A Kingco Crest Division matchup at Issaquah High School on Wednesday.
The game was tight until Redmond’s three-spot in the fifth inning, as three leadoff walks came around to score, highlighted by a two-run single by Lindsay Cristobal.
Ashley Mitchell went deep again for the Mustangs, her fourth of the year, and starter Melissa White pitched well in a winning effort, striking out four.
With the win, the Mustangs improved to 2-1 in league play and 5-1 overall.
Red-hot Sammamish lacrosse routs rival Redmond
Playing in a boys’ Division I lacrosse matchup at Marymoor Park on Wednesday, Sammamish attackman Brian Headland scored four times to help his team to a 10-3 defeat of the Mustangs.
With the loss, Redmond dropped to 3-2 and next faces Gig Harbor on Friday night at Peninsula High School.
