In an intense game that came down to the closing minutes, Redmond fell short in a 4A Kingco league soccer match against Issaquah 3-2 at home on Tuesday night.
The Mustangs opened up the scoring in the 15th minute with Andrew Leadbeater’s shot off a feed from Preston Horner, only to have the Eagles respond with two goals, in the 25th and 35th minutes, to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Both teams’ defenses shined in the second half, with the Eagles breaking through inside the 10-minute mark for a 3-1 lead, with senior co-captain Shawn Cooley taking one in himself with five minutes remaining to get the Mustangs within one goal, but the Mustangs were unable to score the equalizer.
With the loss, Redmond dropped to 1-3 in league play and 5-3 overall.
