The Redmond Mustang fastpitch bats have been red-hot so far this season, and it continued last Friday night on the road against Lake Washington as the Mustangs crushed the Kangs 17-2.
Taking advantage of eight LW fielding errors, the Mustang offense was led by Christine Ho, who went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple, with Ashley Mitchell and Melissa White blasting home runs as part of a two-hit day.
On the mound, White went four innings, giving up two runs on three hits while striking out five for the win.
In their three preseason games, the Mustangs have scored 46 runs while giving up only 10.
Redmond routed in Kennewick
On an Eastern Washington road trip, the Mustang baseball team was steamrolled 20-2 and 15-5 in a doubleheader against the Southridge Suns on Saturday.
In total, the Suns belted 27 hits, 10 of which went for extra bases, while the Mustangs committed seven fielding errors in the two games, which matched their run total.
Redmond will look to bounce back in their Kingco league opener against Eastlake on Tuesday, at Eastlake, first pitch scheduled for 3:45 p.m.
Mustang soccer runs it to 4-0
The Redmond boys’ soccer team kept up its stellar preseason play against Monroe at home on Saturday night, beating the Bearcats 6-0.
The Mustangs scored three times in a five-minute stretch in the first half (Tyler Bennett, 10:00; Andrew Leadbeater, 11:00; Derek Horner, 14:00) and added three more in the second half, two by Austin Pope and one by Shawn Cooley.
Julian White led with two assists, followed by Jack Smith, Cooley and Bennett with one each.
With the win, the Mustangs improved to 4-0 on the season and will take on Newport at home in their season opener at 7:30.
