The red-hot Redmond baseball team continued to dominate Monday night.

Led by the strong pitching of senior southpaw Mack Acker, the Mustangs beat league rival, Eastlake, 5-2, Tuesday night at Hartman Park.

The Mustangs improved to 3-0 in league play and 6-1 overall. Redmond has won five straight since losing to Juanita in its season opener.

Acker started strong, with four shutout innings. He gave up two runs on two hits and struck out seven in 4 1/3 innings of work.

Acker got plenty of run support. Senior Brian Grina blasted a clutch two-out, three-run home run over the left field fence in the fourth inning. The very next batter, senior Drew Fosnes, hit a 2-2 curveball the other way for back-to-back homers as Redmond built a 4-0 lead.

Sophomore Dylan Davis came on in the seven to notch the final three outs and earn the save.

The win leaves Redmond as the only unbeaten team left in Kingco.

The Mustangs play Skyline on Saturday at Hartman Park at 4 p.m.

MUSTANG SOCCER BATTLES TO TIE

Redmond fought hard to earn a 1-1 tie against the Woodinville Falcons last Friday in a 4A Kingco soccer match. Redmond opened up the scoring in the 30th minute when Victor Martinez tucked one in the corner of the goal off a pass from Felipe Barros. The Falcons got physical in the second half and finally scored the equalizer with less than five minutes left in the game.

The tie evened the Mustangs’ league record at 1-1-1 and put the team at 1-2-2 overall.

CEDAR PARK SNEAKS BY BEAR CREEK

The Cedar Park Christian Eagles used a fantastic round by Jeff Doherty to beat Bear Creek, 192-190, in an Emerald City League golf match on Tuesday.

Doherty shot a three-over-par 39 at Echo Falls Golf Club in Snohomish to help the Eagles pull out the narrow win.

Bear Creek’s Johnie Freatman tied for second with Cedar Parks’s Grant Zapara with a 46. Freatman’s younger brother, Calvin, notched a 47.
