The Bear Creek boys’ squad ran their record to 4-0 in Sea-Tac 2B league play on Saturday night with a 57-43 win over Evergreen Lutheran.
The Grizzlies took the lead early, taking a 32-17 advantage into halftime and never looked back.
Junior guard Aaron DiGenova stepped up, scoring a season-high 15 points, followed by Erik Domas with 12 and Lucas Peterson with 10.
With the win, Bear Creek improved to 9-3 overall on the year and have a half-game lead over Seattle Lutheran (3-0, 8-3). The Grizzlies play the Saints on Saturday night.
During last Thursday’s 58-54 win over Rainier Christian, 6-foot-6 forward Ryan Strandin was injured after being fouled while attempting a dunk late in the fourth quarter, falling on his backside.
Strandin sat out the Evergreen Lutheran game, but is “fine” and should be back on the court for the Grizzlies’ next game this Friday against Chief Leschi, according to head coach Scott Moe.
OWLS FALL TO SEATTLE ACADEMY
A big Cardinal third quarter doomed the Overlake boys’ chances on Tuesday night at Seattle Academy, as the Owls lost 59-44.
Overlake trailed by just three at the half, 20-17, but a 24-point period by the Cardinals put the game well out of reach.
Dean Poplawski led all scorers with 22 points, followed by Cameron Lui with 11.
The loss dropped Overlake to 1-6 in Emerald City League play and 4-11 overall.
REDMOND GIRLS ROUT INGRAHAM

Taylor Kopak scored a game-high 10 points, followed by Erin Windham with nine points and five rebounds.
With the win, the Mustangs improved to 4-10 overall and remained 2-6 in Kingco league play.
LADY GRIZZLIES STAY HOT
The Bear Creek girls’ team kept their perfect record intact with a 52-36 victory over Evergreen Lutheran on the road last Saturday afternoon.
The Grizzlies roared out of the gate, leading 31-22 at the half, and never gave the Eagles a chance down the stretch thanks to a solid defensive effort.
Three players scored double-digits for Bear Creek, including Maddie Magee pouring in a game-high 14, with Catherine Fernandez pitching in 12 and Nikki Peterson 10.
The win elevated Bear Creek (4-0, 9-0) to the top of the Sea-Tac 2B League standings.
