Phillips’ five-goal performance increased his career goal total to 45, which set a new school record.

Phillips scored in the 14th, 27th, 30th, 70th and 72nd minutes of the game, with Gabe Rongve scoring the Grizzlies’ other goal in the 59th minute.

With the win, Bear Creek improved to 15-0-0 in league play and 9-0-0 overall. The Grizzlies have one regular-season game remaining, a Sea-Tac 2B matchup against Evergreen Lutheran on Tuesday afternoon at home.

OWLS ROUT NORTHWEST IN REGULAR-SEASON FINALE

The Overlake School boys’ soccer team had plenty to celebrate after an 8-0 Emerald City League rout of Northwest School at Overlake on Tuesday afternoon, capping off an undefeated regular season.

Dean Poplawski scored in the 3rd minute, but Northwest was able to keep the Owls at bay until the 26th minute, when the floodgates opened.

Four different players, Gavin Mackinlay, Rob Neir, Grant Munoz and Tyler Reichenadter, all scored in the next 12 minutes of play as the game was broken wide open.

Henk Wolda scored twice in the second half, and Brandon D’Ewart also scored late in the game off an assist from Erik Risa, and Poplawski recorded three assists in total.

J.J. Cardenas and Jack Roberts combined in goal for a shutout as the Owls improved to 12-0-0 in league play and 14-0-1 overall.

BEAR CREEK GIRLS RUN OVER TACOMA BAPTIST

Six different players scored for The Bear Creek School girls’ soccer team Monday afternoon as the Grizzlies blew out Tacoma Baptist, 7-1, in a Sea-Tac 2B league matchup.

Olivia Tillinghast put the Grizzlies on the board in the 5th minute on an assist by Ashley Pittman, and then Kendall Wyman, Danielle Isbell, Morgan Rial, Pittman and Heather Omdal booted in goals, with Rial adding a second goal in the 63rd minute. Caroline Bridgwater led the team with two assists.

With the win, the Grizzlies improved to 8-1-0 in league play, and 8-4-3 overall.

STRONG SERVING PROPELS GRIZZLIES TO WIN

The Bear Creek volleyball team, playing in a Sea-Tac 2B league matchup at Crosspoint Academy on Monday night, powered its offense past the Warriors in a 3-0 sweep by game scores of 25-19, 25-9, and 25-9.

Michele Brown swatted seven service aces, followed by Bethan Meyer with four. Meyer led the team with seven kills, followed by Maddie Easley and Makena Schoene with six apiece.

The Grizzlies, now a perfect 11-0 in league play (11-1 overall) have locked up the Sea-Tac 2B league title.
