The Grizzlies’ boys’ soccer squad opened up their 2010 season with their eighth straight win with a 4-0 defeat of Puget Sound Adventist on Thursday afternoon.
Nima Abtahi scored unassisted just after the game got underway, and scored again in the 59th minute.
Josh Firminger put on in off a Gannon McCahill feed and Tom Postings scored on a penalty kick late in the second half.
Jamie Clough earned the shutout, his league-leading sixth of the season.
With the win, the Grizzlies improved to 4-0-0 in league play and 8-0-0 overall.
GRIZZLIES STAY PERFECT, DEFEAT CROSS POINT
The Bear Creek volleyball team has yet to lose a game this season as they defeated Cross Point Academy in three games on Thursday night at home, 25-12, 25-14, 25-19.
Makena Schoene led the offense with 10 kills and four aces, followed by Elizabeth Fernandez with seven. Michele Brown topped her season high in assists with 27 and also had four aces.
With the win, the Grizzlies are now 5-0 in Sea-Tac 2B league play and 6-0 overall.
REDMOND TENNIS BEATS ISSAQUAH
Thanks to a sweep of singles matches, the Mustangs had no trouble taking their 4A Kingco match against the Eagles on Wednesday night 5-2.
Jeff Jou beat Evan Cheung 6-4, 6-2; Scott Singleton beat John Brendel 6-3, 6-4; Matt Lee swept Andrew Park 6-0, 6-0 and Johnson Hsieh came from behind to win his match against Nick Hefty, 4-6, 6-1, 6-0.
In Doubles action, the No. 3 team of Noah Kinisch and Austin Smith defeated David Park and Andrew Okada 6-2, 6-2.
MUSTANG VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO COUGARS
Playing at home, the Redmond High volleyball team was outmatched by Bothell on Thursday night 3-0 via game scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-8.
For Redmond, Ashley Swanson led the team with nine kills, Makayla Moller notched 14 assists and libero Justice Magraw recorded 25 digs.
With the loss, the Mustangs fell to 1-3 in league play and 2-4 overall.
