Both basketball teams from The Bear Creek School remained undefeated in Sea-Tac B League play with road wins Thursday night as the boys' team won in dramatic fashion and the girls' team took home a blowout victory.

Ryan Strandin scored a team-high 19 points and Luke Blankenbeckler added 13 as the Grizzlies beat Rainier Christian, 58-54, in overtime. The boys improved to 3-0 in league and 8-3 overall.

Cathrine Fernandez led the girls team with 11 points as the Grizzlies handled Rainier Christian, 50-17. Kristina Engelstone and Nikkie Peterson each scored seven in the win as 13 different Grizzly players got some playing time.

The Bear Creek girls improved to 3-0 in league and 8-0 overall, including six double-digit victories.

Overlake boys win, girls lose

Cameron Lui and Dean Poplawski each scored 24 points to lead The Overlake School boys’ basketball team past Bush, 73-50, to earn its first Emerald City League victory of the season Thursday night at Bush.

The Owls outscored Bush, 18-5, in the third quarter to break a 28-28 tie at halftime and take control of the game.

Jackson Umberger added 12 points for Overlake, which improved to 1-5 in league and 3-10 overall.

The Overlake girls’ team did not fare as well, falling 52-30 to Bush.

Katie Hill scored 12 points for the Owls and Mariel Frank added 10 as Overlake dropped to 1-7 in league and 2-9 overall.

Redmond girls fall to Woodinville

Redmond High senior guard Stacey Kimball poured in a team-high 19 points, but it wasn’t enough as Woodinville beat the Mustangs, 76-51, in a 4A Kingco contest Thursday night.

Junior guard Makaela added 11 for Redmond, which fell to 2-5 in the Crest Division and 3-9 overall.
