Bryce DeLay, who will attend The Overlake School in Redmond this fall, is part of the Eastlake Little League team that will be playing in the World Series starting this week in Williamsport, Pa.
In the recent Northwest Regional title game against Montana, Eastlake jumped to a 4-0 first-inning lead and never looked back in a 13-1 win to become the first team from Washington to make it to Williamsport since 2010.
The Montana win capped an unbeaten performance for Eastlake in its first-ever trip to the regional tournament.
The 12-year-old Washington champions needed comebacks in the final game of pool play and the semifinal round against Idaho, erasing a deficit in the bottom of the final inning each time to remain alive.
It will be the Southwest regional champions from Corpus Christi, Texas waiting on Thursday in the first game of pool play. The two-week tournament culminates with the World Series Championship on Aug. 25. All of the games in the tournament will be featured on live television broadcasts on ESPN, ESPN or ABC.
