Overlake’s boys and girls basketball teams advanced to the 1A District 1/2 tournament this week.

Both squads won loser-out Emerald City League wildcard playoff games last weekend with the boys beating Bear Creek, 64-56, and the girls defeating Northwest, 34-31.

Zeyad Daher and Owen Friend had 17 and 16 points, respectively, for Overlake’s boys. For the Owl girls, Amanda Lin and Oli Wilson tallied 12 and nine points, respectively.

The boys (15-5 overall) will play at host South Whidbey at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, and the girls (9-10 overall) will play at host Mount Baker at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Bear Creek’s teams are finished for the season.
