The Overlake-Bear Creek baseball team continued its winning ways with a 17-0 drubbing of Bush Monday afternoon at Marymoor Park.

With the win, the Growls improved to 8-1 in Emerald City League play and 9-2 overall.The Growls knocked out 15 hits and three pitchers combined to face the minimum 15 batters in the five-inning game.

Senior Jackson Umberger stayed hot at the plate, going 4 for 4 with five RBIs, including his third home run in three games. Umberger is 11 for 16 with two doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI in the four games since spring break.

Jacob Gilles, Zander Gosanko, and Aaron Zhu also had multiple hit games against Bush. Senior Aaron DiGenova (1-2) got the win on the mound for the Growls.

The Growls take on Charles Wright Academy today at 4 at Marymoor Park, Ballfield No. 2.

Ballard blanks Redmond fastpitch

Redmond High School pitcher Melissa White struck out 10 batters but it wasn’t enough as Ballard blanked the Mustangs, 2-0, in a Kingco 4A fastpitch game on Monday.

Natalie Roberts had the only hit for Redmond, which fell to 1-5 in league play and 5-6 overall.
