The Overlake boys and girls basketball teams are taking on cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
Tonight, the athletes and their coaches will support cancer awareness through Coaches versus Cancer. Games against Northwest will be held in the field house and main gym beginning at 4 p.m. with the boys junior varsity game and finishing at 7:30 p.m. with the boys varsity game.
Then, on Feb. 3, the teams will be on the court again in support of Alzheimer’s Awareness Night. Students are asked to wear purple in support. The evening is the idea of an Overlake student, whose mother is struggling with the disease. The girls varsity game against Seattle Academy will start at 5:45 p.m. and the boys varsity contest will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
