Mustangs wrestle well at Liberty tournament, Long wins 132-pound title | Prep report

The Redmond High wrestling team hit the road last weekend for a tournament at Liberty High School, and four Mustangs ended up placing. Wrestling at 132, Brandon Long ran the table for the win, opening up with a quick pin (26 seconds) over Renton's Jordan Rosas, then earning another pin against Lindbergh's Colton Maddy, in 3:24.

Wrestling at 132, Brandon Long ran the table for the win, opening up with a quick pin (26 seconds) over Renton’s Jordan Rosas, then earning another pin against Lindbergh’s Colton Maddy, in 3:24.

In the finals, Long (14-5 this season) had a rematch against Hazen’s Austin Clark, who had a 2-0 record against Long going into the Liberty finals, and this time Long won in a rout, 9-1.

Also placing were Sean Donovan (2nd place, 182), Eli Grady, (third place, 145) and Blake Emery (fourth place, 160).

Grady went 3-0 with three pins in his last three matches after falling in the first round to eventual champion Emmanuel Martinez of Renton.

The team gets back into 4A Kingco league action tonight against Roosevelt, at Roosevelt High School, at 7:30 p.m.
