Mustangs survive scare against Bulldogs

The Redmond High baseball team saw an 11-0 lead evaporate as Garfield scored 10 unanswered runs, but the Mustangs held on for a 11-10 slugfest win at Garfield High School Tuesday night in a 4A Kingco matchup.

The Redmond High baseball team saw an 11-0 lead evaporate as Garfield scored 10 unanswered runs, but the Mustangs held on for a 11-10 slugfest win at Garfield High School Tuesday night in a 4A Kingco matchup.

Redmond starter Dylan Davis, who shut the Bulldogs down through four innings, struggled in the fifth, giving up four runs. Redmond’s bullpen also struggled to close out the game.

Davis earned the win, striking out six and walking six while giving up just one hit.

Leading the offense for Redmond was Peyton Lutz, going 3-for-3 with a double, followed by Michael Conforto (2-for-3, 2 RBIs) and Peter Hendron (2-for-3, homerun and 3 RBIs).

Zach Abbruzza continued his hitting streak, belting his league-leading seventh home run of the season in the third inning while extending his hitting streak to 10 games.
