Redmond’s Ivan Graham placed third in the 100-yard butterfly and fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke at Saturday’s 3A state swim meet at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
His times were 50.65 in the fly and 58.61 in the breaststroke.
“It was a pretty good feeling to be up there (on the podium),” Graham said.
The Mustang was especially pleased with his fly performance, noting that he tried to keep his underwaters and anchors strong.
“My stroke felt together and smooth,” he said.
Graham also swam on the 11th-place 200-yard medley relay with Peter Fitch, Jason Fu and Ian Huang. They finished in 1:41.92.
The Mustangs’ 400-yard freestyle relay — also featuring Graham — took 16th in 3:27.19. Huang, Fitch and Michael Li completed the foursome.
On the relays, Graham said, “I think we were all close to each other and connected, and that just made us swim faster.”
Also at state, Fitch competed in the 100-yard backstroke, and Redmond sent its 200-yard freestyle medley (Fu, Huang, Thane Suen and Erik Kvietkus) to the meet.
