After getting blown away 9-0 in its first 4A Kingco meeting with Eastlake, the Redmond High fastpitch team looked to even the season series but fell short in a 8-6 slugfest at Redmond High School Tuesday night.

The Wolves got to Redmond starting pitcher Emily Graves early, scoring three runs in the first inning, but the Mustangs fought back to plate four of their own in the bottom of the first, highlighted by a two-run double by third baseman Jenny Eisenmann.

With Redmond leading 6-5 in the third inning, walks and errors led to three more Eastlake runs and a Wolves’ win, as no more runs were scored for the rest of the game.

For the Mustangs, Eisenmann and Christine Ho each went 2-for-4, and Stephanie Gero, Melissa White and Ashley Mitchell each got a hit.

The Mustangs play again tonight, their third game in three days, at 4:30 at Issaquah High School. They are currently 6-8 in league play (9-9 overall) and are hanging on to the fourth and final playoff spot for the upcoming 4A Kingco tournament.

REDMOND TENNIS FALLS TO EASTLAKE

The Redmond High girls’ tennis team got some solid singles performances, but once again got swept in doubles action for a 4-3 loss to rival Eastlake Tuesday night in a 4A Kingco match.

Top singles player Sarah Du continued her impressive season with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Hannah Thornsburg, No. 2 Raluca Ifrin beat Kelly Song in a tough battle 6-3, 7-5 and No. 4 Sophia Xu routed Nina Kondza 6-1, 6-1.

Redmond has one match remaining on their regular-season schedule, at Inglemoor High School on Thursday, beginning at 3:45 p.m.
