The Redmond High fastpitch team banged out 16 hits on the way to an 18-0 rout of host Garfield in a 4A Kingco fastpitch contest last Friday.
Redmond starter Melissa White pitched a five-inning complete game gem, allowing just one hit and walking none while striking out five.
Joanna French led the offensive charge for the Mustangs, going 3-for-4.
Lindsay Cristobal, Riley Flynn, Jenny Eisenmann, Stephanie Gero, Christine Ho and Ashley Mitchell all notched two hits in the game.
With the win, the Mustangs improved to 5-7 in league play and 8-8 overall.
REDMOND LACROSSE WINS THIRD STRAIGHT
Jacob Kappes and Joe Mernaugh each scored three goals to lead Redmond to a 13-1 Division II rout over North Kitsap last Saturday at North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo.
Brian Cox scooped up nine ground balls for Redmond, and Neal Jatekar notched three saves in goal.
With the win, Redmond improved to 8-5-0 and will play Roosevelt in the first round of the Division II playoffs on Friday at Lower Woodland Park at 7 p.m.
MUSTANG TENNIS NIPPED BY SKYLINE
Despite winning three of four singles matches, the Redmond High girls’ tennis team was swept in doubles action and was dealt a 4-3 loss to Skyline on Friday night in a 4A Kingco match at Redmond High.
Highlights for Redmond included No. 1 Sarah Du beating Kelly Boudwin 6-3, 6-1; Raluca Ifrin handling Kristin Park 6-3, 6-3 and Sophia Xu grinding out a tough, back-and-forth match against Molly Knutson 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
