Marymoor Grand Prix returning to Velodrome next weekend

Many of North America's fastest track cyclists will be headed to Marymoor Park's Velodrome, the state's only track dedicated to bicycle racing, for two days of competition at the 2011 Marymoor Grand Prix July 22-23.

Many of North America’s fastest track cyclists will be headed to Marymoor Park’s Velodrome, the state’s only track dedicated to bicycle racing, for two days of competition at the 2011 Marymoor Grand Prix July 22-23.

Racing begins at 7 p.m. on both nights, with qualifying races starting at 1 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Grand Prix will feature several current national champions, as well as former and future Olympians vying for a cash purse of more than $17,000.

Admission is $5 per person, with kids 16 and under admitted free. Children that bring a bicycle and helmet will be able to participate in a fun “Kiddie Kilo” race both nights. A beer garden will be open from 6:30-10:30 p.m. both evenings, and food will be available from vendors. Outside food is permitted.
