The Old Fire House Teen Center and the Redmond Police and Fire Departments are teaming up together to play a three-on-three tournament called “Hoops for Food” and raise donations for Hopelink.
The event is from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Old Fire House Teen Center, 16510 NE 79th St. in downtown Redmond.
The participants promise a great tournament for an entry donation of two or more non-perishable food items. All food will be donated to Hopelink’s food bank in Redmond.
“It’s back to school and many people are thinking about new classes, seeing friends and what to wear. Most are not thinking about food banks being short on food,” said Ken Wong, director of the teen center. “This event will help fill the shelves at Hopelink at a time they need it the most.”
Teams will practice for the next two weeks to get ready for the showdown at the teen center. The winning team can claim the championship of Redmond, all for a great cause. If you are not able to attend the tournament, donations can be dropped off at the Old Fire House Teen Center during open hours, 3-9 p.m. Monday-Friday.
As part of a month-long Eastside food drive, donations can also be dropped off at any Redmond Fire Station from Sept. 26-Oct. 24.
