Overlake junior Bryce DeLay threw a perfect game in the Overtake-Bear Creek Growls’ 6-0 baseball win over University Prep on Wednesday. It is the first perfect game in the 17-year history of Overlake baseball.
DeLay mowed down all 21 batters and struck out six while the Growls clinched the 1A Emerald City League title. The junior lefty needed only 79 pitches (52 strikes) to pitch his way into the Overlake record books.
Head coach Mike Davidson’s team is now 13-2, ranked No. 1 in Washington state by MaxPreps and hasn’t lost a league game in five years.
Ryan Long had two hits and one RBI, Peter Dudunakis had two hits and Karsten Kohout and Kevin Gartland each had one hit and one RBI.
