The Bear Creek School’s track and field teams put together a strong showing at this year’s 2B Track & Field Championships with six podium finishes.
Freshman Maddie Magee’s gave it her all but had to settle for the silver medal after her high jump of 5 feet, 2 inches was just short of Wahkiakum senior Sarah Doumit’s winning leap of 5 feet, 3 inches.
The 800 meter relay team of Elizabeth Fernandez, Brittanie Vander Weide, Morgan Rial and Danielle Isbell placed third with a time of 1 minute, 50.25 seconds. In the field, Kira Geiger tied for fourth with Elizabeth Thatcher of North Beach in the pole vault by clearing 8 feet, 6 inches, just three inches off of the winning mark of 8 feet 9.
On the boys’ side, sophomore Josh Firminger placed fifth and eighth in the 200 and 100 meter events, respectively. Senior Erik Richardson took fifth in the shot put with a heave of 47 feet, 6 inches.
