The Bear Creek School’s track and field teams put together a strong showing at this year’s 2B Track & Field Championships with six podium finishes.
Freshman Maddie Magee gave it her all but had to settle for the silver medal after her high jump of 5 feet, 2 inches was just short of Wahkiakum senior Sarah Doumit’s winning leap of 5 feet, 3 inches.
The 800-meter relay team of Elizabeth Fernandez, Brittanie Vander Weide, Morgan Rial and Danielle Isbell placed third with a time of 1 minute, 50.25 seconds.
In the field, Kira Geiger tied for fourth with Elizabeth Thatcher of North Beach in the pole vault by clearing 8 feet, 6 inches, just three inches off of the winning mark of 8 feet 9 which was attained by three athletes, with Kari Hunt of Vancouver Christian winning the gold.
On the boys’ side, sophomore Josh Firminger placed fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.53, and also snuck into the final heat and placed eighth in the 100 meters, running a 12.12.
Senior Erik Richardson took fifth in the shot put with a heave of 47 feet, 6 inches.
