The visiting Bear Creek Grizzlies defeated Christian Faith in a Sea-Tac 2B volleyball match, 3-0, on Monday.
The Grizzlies won the first two games 25-21 and 25-18 before holding off the Eagles, 27-25, in the clinching game.
For Bear Creek, Alexis Miller shined with seven service aces, four kills and eight digs, Katie Wolfram added nine kills and six digs, and Erica Leuenberger and Emily Kadeg combined for 20 assists during the match. With the win, the team improved to 3-0 on the year.
VOLLEYBALL: ‘Stangs sting Hazen
Redmond beat the Hazen Highlanders in a nonleague match, 3-0, on Tuesday.
Game scores were 25-16, 25-9 and 25-14. Junior Rachel Rosen led Redmond with 10 kills.
Junior setter Joanna French had 24 assists and four aces, and senior libero Taylor Danowski was credited with 12 digs.
SOCCER: Bear Creek blanked
The Cedar Park Christian Eagles shut out The Bear Creek Grizzlies, 4-0, in a nonleague soccer game at the Bear Creek School on Monday.
The Eagles’ Rachel Stochtacher scored two goals in the first six minutes of play.
Nicolette Clark (37th minute) and Liz Cummings (48th minute) added two more goals for the Eagles.
Cedar Park’s Jena Blanchard earned the shutout as Bear Creek dropped to 1-1-0 on the season.
SOCCER: Overlake girls drop two
Overlake lost a tightly-contested 1A Emerald City League boys soccer match , 3-2, against Montesano last Saturday.
Aided by unassisted goals by Overlake’s Alex MacKenzie and Caroline Roush, the score remained tied 2-2 until the 70th minute of play when Montesano’s Ashlyn Crossan scored to put the Bulldogs ahead for good.
The Owls were shut out 2-0 by Northwest School on Tuesday at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila in their first league match of the season.
The losses drop Overlake to 1-3-0.
GOLF: Mustangs beat Sammamish
Led by Redmond’s Lyle Rudnicki and Kyle Gysler, who both shot an even-par 35, the Mustangs beat the Totems, 186-219, in a 4A Kingco match at Bellevue Municipal Golf Course.
Alex Abbruzza shot a 2-over-par 37 and Oscar Santamarina carded a 3-over 38.
