Overlake senior Hillary Barker powered the Cedarcrest softball team to the Class 2A state tournament after winning three of four games in the Northwest 2A District softball tournament last week.
Barker, who will be playing at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire next year, capped off the week going 4-for-4 at the plate and picking up the save on the mound in Cedarcrest’s 7-2 win against Sehome on Saturday. Barker allowed just one hit in a 5-0 shutout of Archbishop Murphy earlier that day. The win against Archbishop Murphy was sweet revenge for Cedarcrest, who lost 1-0 to the Everett-based school on May 2 for its only loss in the regular season.
Cedarcrest, the Duvall-based school that Barker would go to if she did not go to Overlake, split a pair of games last Thursday, beating Mount Baker 5-0 and falling to Anacortes 3-2.
Cedarcrest heads into the state tournament with a 21-2, with Barker as its primary pitcher. Barker did not allow an earned run until April 30, her 14th start of the season.
