Vote ‘yes’ on the April 26 schools bond | Letter

As the co-presidents of Rosa Parks Elementary School PTSA and longtime volunteers in our school, we've seen firsthand the unprecedented growth in student population — both at our own school and across Lake Washington School District. In fact, our district is one of the fastest-growing in the state, jumping from sixth to fourth largest in the last year. A big reason we're so crowded is because our top-rated schools are an attractive option for families. That's a credit to our amazing teachers and strong community.

We hope you will join us in voting “yes” on the April 26 bond. The bond will address overcrowding without raising our tax rate. It means fewer portables and more classroom space for our students. The bond will make sure our kids are getting the best opportunities to learn.

As PTSA leaders, we’re pleased that the school district listened to the community, engaged with parents and residents, and came up with a fiscally prudent plan that addresses our most urgent needs while keeping costs to taxpayers low.
