Teens today face a problem that is hard to see, but completely tangible.
At Redmond High School, money seems to be abundant and scarce at the same time.
Compared to many other schools across the nation, Redmond is clearly above average. It has great classes that prepare students for a future in college and certain professions.
At the same time, money is scarce because of recent budget cuts in the Lake Washington School District. In Redmond, as well as many places in this nation, people who have money do not care about it and toss it around. People who do not have money strive to obtain it and make good use out of it.
Take a look around you. You see people in Bangladesh, India, and countless other countries that do not have money and survive in a life of poverty. Those people have nothing. You also see the rich of the world living with materialistic items and having incredible amounts of money.
No, I am not a communist nor Buddhist, but as a teenager, I find money a big issue. In a few years, I will be going to college without scholarships; it will be a great deal of money to cover costs.
I think that other teens should be aware that money is important because many do not see it as that vital. All teens in our community and everywhere, should work hard in school. Working hard in school will lead to a decent life, which is something people in third world countries wish they had. Teens also need to be more aware of finances and learn how to manage their money.
It is not about the money but how responsible we are with the money.
