Sustainable Redmond meeting set for Monday | Letter

As we celebrate Earth Day, Sustainable Redmond invites the community to Environmental Recap 2016, a review where we have been, how we measure progress and where we might be going environmentally.

As we celebrate Earth Day, Sustainable Redmond invites the community to Environmental Recap 2016, a review where we have been, how we measure progress and where we might be going environmentally.

The highlight of this meeting is a focused presentation on how Redmond deals with the quality of our local aquifer from which we draw some of our drinking water, treatment of our stormwater to maintain the health of streams like Bear Creek, green infrastructure to efficiently manage stormwater in areas like Overlake and how increased flooding as an outgrowth of climate change can be minimized. This presentation will follow an overview of elements included in Redmond’s environmental planning, sources for that information and metrics of success.

The conversation will include open discussion and information on how community voices can be heard. This meeting is particularly timely as a variety of changes are proposed to aquifer protection and stormwater management in Redmond.

Scheduled from 6-8:30 p.m. Monday at the Redmond Library, everyone is invited to attend and share ideas that can enhance an environmentally sustainable future for Redmond.
