Change is inevitable.
In fact, we are hard-wired to adapt to changing conditions in our environment. Well, more change is on the way here at the Redmond Reporter.
The Redmond Reporter, which has a plethora of stories about the community where you live and work, will move deeper into the Internet age of community journalism next month, moving to a once-a-week print edition, published on Fridays, in order to concentrate on beefing up its daily news coverage at redmond-reporter.com. The first Friday edition will be March 27.
The once-a-week print issue will remain as Redmond’s go-to publication with hard-hitting stories, flashy photos and eye-catching advertisements.
The move is both financial and strategic, as readers expect to find more local news on the Internet and advertisers want to tap into this on-line readership.
The same features now in the Redmond Reporter will continue in the Friday edition. There, readers will find a week’s worth of news, community features and a look at what’s coming up in the days ahead.
But if you really want to stay abreast ofwhat’s going on in Redmond on a daily basis, go to redmond-reporter.com.
In my 13 years in journalism, I have seen, experienced and adapted to changing technology. Of course, all of this goes unnoticed to the readers, who rightly only cared about getting the paper delivered on time and their name spelled right.
I started in journalism right before the Internet was a gleam in Al Gore’s eye, although maybe in the military’s eye. That gleam is now a bright light.
Change, again, is inevitable. Enter redmond-reporter.com.
Many of you have already discovered our Web site. We hope more of you will do so as we move our resources into presenting the news of Redmond each day online. Think of it as your daily newspaper. We will do our best to meet your expectations. We have high expectations for ourselves, too.
I don’t want to leave the impression that our Redmond Reporter print edition is going to be left in the dust when we switch to a Friday publication in March. It’s not.
We have gone multi-media and our print edition is a critical part of our commitment to presenting local news and advertising to you.
That won’t change.
