Ryan Darrel Van Aken
Ryan Darrel Van Aken, passed away on July 7 2009, at Castle Hospital, Kailua, HI from heart failure.Word of Ryan’s passing spread so fast that hundreds of people in the area that knew Ryan gathered together for an impromptu memorial service in his honor. Although Ryan was taken at the young age of 29 he had a multitude of friends because of his tremendous ability to relate to people on all levels and ages.He was fiercely loyal to his friends. At a young age, Ryan overcame challenges even Job would be proud of. Ryan was a man of perseverance and had the ability to become an expert in computer programs in weeks and was able to master 23 computer languages. All his knowledge and training was completely autodidactic (self taught).Ryan lived in Kaneohe Hawaii and formally lived in Bainbridge Island, WA and Sammamish, WA where he attended High School and Seattle Central Community college.Ryan enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding and the company of family and friends. Ryan was a Senior .NET developer/ Senior web developer for Aloha Island Inc. a video game and software development company located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Ryan also held computer developing positions with other companies including Thinkview Incorporated, Microsoft and Washington Mutual. Ryan was also published.Ryan was always concerned about others and would not hesitate to call and remind them to wear their seat belts or to drive safely and had a very strong sense of family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved a good laugh. He was involved in political causes and took a Leadership roll in an inventors club developing computer gadgets.Ryan was survived by his fiancée Shannon Dwyer, his son, his parents Morgan & Vikki Van Aken his siblings Peter Van Aken (Anne-Claire), Brad Van Aken (Jenny), Patrick Van Aken (Sarah), Ashley Frandsen (Brandon), and Alicia Van Aken. He also was survived by 11 nieces and nephews.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday July 18, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Bainbridge Island Ward building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints.
