Hugh E. DeWater

Hugh E. DeWater, 85, died Jan. 17 surrounded by his family. Hugh was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, graduated from Hutchinson High School and the University of Kansas, and served as a P-38 pilot in Europe during WWII.Hugh married Susan Kaths on June 30, 1945. They moved to Bellevue in 1968 in a transfer with the Boeing Company. He was an engineer with Boeing for nearly 40 years. Deke, as he was known, was a great father and grandfather.He is survived by his children, John and Janet DeWater, Janet DeWater, Nancy and Pat McGough, Susan and Chris Grewe, and by Patty Johnson, Peggy Stern and Jim Kaths. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Paul and Nora DeWater, Jimmy DeWater, Anna Grewe, and Katie and John McGough, and was preceded in death by his wife Susan.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24 at 1:00PM, First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue.
