Earl Kenneth (Ken) Slotten
Earl Kenneth Slotten, known his whole life by his middle name of Ken, was born on July 29, 1928 in Wittenberg, Wisconsin, the younger of two sons born to Petra and Christen Slotten. He passed away on February 19, 2016 in Kirkland, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his son Karl Slotten in 2012 and by his wife of 57 years Dorothy Slotten in 2015.
Ken and Dorothy made their home in Redmond, Washington where they raised five sons. Ken was an electrical engineer at the Boeing Company for over 40 years, then worked as an engineering consultant before retiring in his early 80s. He was a talented college baseball player and patient coach of Redmond Little Leaguers for many years. He and Dorothy were also very active in the square dancing community and enjoyed going on long cruises in their later years. Ken had a charming and gentle presence and would listen in rapt attention to whatever his seven grandchildren had to say to him.
He is survived by his sons Chris Slotten (Sarah) of Poulsbo, WA, Eric Slotten (Karyn) of Hailey, ID, Todd Slotten of Woodinville, WA and Kurt Slotten (Sharon) of Woodinville, WA, and by his brother Roy Slotten (Marge) of Pocatello, ID. Ken will be remembered with great affection by his 4 granddaughters and 3 grandsons.
The family took time to remember Ken at a private graveside gathering. Funeral arrangements were made under the care of Cedar Lawns Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Redmond.
