The City of Redmond and Forterra, formerly the Cascade Land Conservancy, are partnering to sponsor a work party on Saturday, July 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at Idylwood Beach Park, 3650 West Lake Sammamish Pkwy N.E.

All those who care about Redmond’s urban forests can help by volunteering to remove invasive plants and plant native trees and shrubs to reestablish a healthy forest and mitigate carbon in the atmosphere.

No experience is necessary and gloves, tools and other materials are available. It is important to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. All ages are welcome, although all volunteers younger than 18 must either be accompanied by an adult or bring a signed waiver (available at www.greenredmond.org, on the Volunteer Schedule page).

This event is part of the Last Saturday of the Month program from Green Redmond. The remaining events will take place on the following days and parks:

  • Aug. 25 – Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park, 19545 Redmond Rd.
  • Sept. 29 – Redmond Watershed Preserve, 21760 Novelty Hill Rd.
  • Oct. 27 – Viewpoint Park, 18440 N.E. 24th St.

All volunteers should look for Green Redmond Partnership event signs to sign in and receive their tools and gloves.
