The City of Redmond and Forterra, formerly the Cascade Land Conservancy, are partnering to sponsor a work party on Saturday, May 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at Grass Lawn Park, 7031 148 Ave. N.E. in Redmond.

All those who care about Redmond’s urban forests can help by volunteering to remove invasive plants and plant native trees and shrubs to reestablish a healthy forest and mitigate carbon in the atmosphere.

No experience is necessary and gloves, tools and other materials are available. It is important to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. All ages are welcome, although all volunteers younger than 18 must either be accompanied by an adult or bring a signed waiver (available at www.greenredmond.org, on the Volunteer Schedule page).

This event is part of the Last Saturday of the Month program from Green Redmond. The remaining events will take place at the following parks on the following days:

  • June 30 – Viewpoint Park, 18440 N.E. 24th St.
  • July 28 – Idylwood Beach Park, 3650 W. Lake Sammamish Pkwy N.E.
  • August 25 – Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park, 19545 Redmond Rd.
  • September 29 – Redmond Watershed Preserve, 21760 Novelty Hill Rd.
  • October 27 – Viewpoint Park, 18440 N.E. 24th St.
