The Redmond Police Department will present a Women’s Personal Safety class from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28.

It will be held at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 NE 80th Street. Note this is a different venue than in the past, to enable more people to participate in the class.

This is not a self-defense class. It offers a proactive, rather than reactive, approach to safety.

Topics will include:

• How to prevent becoming the victim of crime.

• How to handle “road rage” and prevent accidents.

• How to handle armed encounters including car jackings.

• How to make your home a “hard target.”

• The use of force and your rights within the law.

• The pros and cons of weapons for personal security.

The class is appropriate for women approximately 15 years of age and older. Seating is limited, so only RSVP if you are sure to attend. E-mail jbove@redmond.gov.
