Early Sunday morning, a water main break in the 14300 block of Old Redmond Road left 17 residences in the area without water for about nine hours.

According to the Redmond Police Department (RPD), the break occurred at around 2 a.m. and Old Redmond Road was closed to westbound and eastbound traffic from 140th to 148th avenues northeast.

At the time, residents in the areas of 143rd, 144th and 146th avenues northeast were not able to drive north (toward Grasslawn Park) at the time due to road issues.

Lisa Rhodes, communications and marketing manager for the City of Redmond, said the problem has been fixed and water is back on for the area residents. Repaving work will take place in the next week, she said. The work that will be done will include removing damaged pavement; excavating to locate the break; cutting, removing and replacing the damaged pipe and back filling and compacting.
