The City of Redmond and Forterra are partnering to sponsor a work party on Saturday, June 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at Viewpoint Park, 18440 N.E. 24th St. in Redmond.
All those who care about Redmond’s urban forests can help by volunteering to remove invasive plants and plant native trees and shrubs to re-establish a healthy forest and mitigate carbon in the atmosphere.
No experience is necessary and gloves, tools and other materials are available. It is important to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.
All ages are welcome, although all volunteers younger than 18 must either be accompanied by an adult or bring a signed waiver (available at www.greenredmond.org, on the Volunteer Schedule page).
This event is part of the Last Saturday of the Month program from Green Redmond.
The remaining events will take place on the following days and at the following parks:
- July 28 – Idylwood Beach Park, 3650 West Lake Sammamish Pkwy N.E.
- Aug. 25 – Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park, 19545 Redmond Rd.
- Sept. 29 – Redmond Watershed Preserve, 21760 Novelty Hill Rd.
- Oct. 27 – Viewpoint Park, 18440 N.E. 24th St.
All volunteers should look for Green Redmond Partnership event signs to sign-in and receive their tools and gloves.
